DIY Monstera Iron-on Napkins
Welcome friends! I’m starting to see little glimpses of spring here and there and that makes me excited for fresh, new decor. I’m so glad you’re joining us for our Home Decor Craft & DIY Tour today! If you’re popping over from the talented Janine at Happy Happy Nester, a big hello to you as well. Her DIY spring flowers are amazing! I’m excited to share my DIY Monstera Iron-on Napkins with you all today! They’re a fun way to add a personal touch to your spring or summer table. There’s so much inspiration on our tour today so let’s get started!
Ready to see how I created my DIY Monstera Iron-on napkins?
Materials for DIY monstera iron-on napkins:
- Cotton Napkins (100% cotton or cotton blend is best to avoid scorching)
- Transfer Paper (I used Jolee’s for light fabric available at Michaels)
- Printer
- Iron (Dry setting, no steam)
Step 1: Decide on your design
Once I narrowed down my design to a Monstera leaf, I searched google for images until I found one I liked. Save that image and copy it in a word or pages document. You’ll want to flip the image orientation because you’ll be placing it face-down on your napkin. Copy the image as many times as will fit on the page or as needed for your project.
Step 2: Print your image on transfer paper
Make sure you insert transfer paper correctly according to package directions. In my case, it was lined side up.
Step 3: Cut out your design and place on napkin
Step 4: Iron on your design
Place your image face down in place on your napkin. With your iron on cotton setting iron over image apply firm pressure for 60 seconds. Refer to instructions provided with transfer paper for more details.
Step 5: Peel off paper and voila!
Don’t peek! Wait 60 seconds before carefully peeling off the paper. You must remove it while still warm.
That’s it you’re done! This craft takes a bit of planning to find and print the image, but once that’s done it goes very quickly. I used napkins I already had, and it’s a great way to add new life to your old napkins!
This would be so fun for your easter table (think bunnies or tulips) or for a baby or wedding shower. It would work well on cocktail sized napkins as well!
I hope you liked my DIY Monstera Iron-on Napkins and consider giving them a try! If you do, I’d love for you to share with me. It was fun creating a little spring oasis inside even though we still have snow on the ground! Now it’s time to head over to the next stop on the tour, Leslie at My 100 Year Old Home. I know she’s got a very special pillow to share with you all!
