New Chandelier: How We Updated Our Entryway with Lighting
I’ve slowly been refreshing our home this spring and I’m sharing another update I wish I had done sooner. Your entryway is the first space that guests see when they enter your home but it’s also an opportunity to set the tone for your whole home. Today I’m sharing my New Chandelier: How We Updated our Entryway with Lighting from Union Lighting and my tips for choosing the right chandelier for your home.
Let’s take a look at our current entryway lighting. It was here when we moved in almost eight years ago and we just never got around to changing it. I always envisioned something more elegant in this space and the transformation is incredible!
Before:
Okay so not terrible, but dated and a little underwhelming. Now let’s look at the new chandelier and see how it transforms our entryway.
After:
WOW, right?1! So much more ME and so much more fitting for our home. I’m in love!! All the deets coming up but first let me share a little bit more about Union Lighting with you. They have been a family run business since 1914 and their showroom is located in Montreal, Canada. While lighting is where their passions began, they are now a one-stop shop for everything for the home including lighting, hardware, furniture and home decor. They ship across Canada and within the US.
Okay, let me tell you about this beauty! It’s the Carlow Chandelier in Matte White by Generation Lighting. This is the largest size but it also comes in 3 smaller sizes and a Matte Black option as well. The ceiling in our entryway is 12 ft. high so the first consideration we had was that it needed to be large enough to fill the space and make a statement. Size matters! If you choose a chandelier too small it will get lost in your space. If you choose something too big, it will be overpowering. Luckily the experts at Union Lighting are here to help you with your selection!
I love this view from our upstairs hallway!
Another thing that was really important to me was that this fixture matched the overall aesthetic of our home. Our home was built in the 90’s with a mostly traditional design that works well with my own coastal traditional style. I wanted our new lighting to match that style and feel like it was always meant to be here. How do you think I did? The lantern style and brass elements are both coastal and traditional at the same time. What’s your design style? What’s the design style of your home? This is something you’ll want to consider when purchasing lighting for your home.
Something else to consider is the actual lighting. Make sure the chandelier you choose will give you the right amount of light needed for your space. Our installer recommended adding a dimmer switch and I’m really loving being able to adjust the amount of light here now. Before it was just on or off, full blast. Now we have ambiance! Correct lighting makes all the difference and thankfully Union Lighting can help with that too.
