Poolside Happy Hour Entertaining Ideas
We’ve been having incredible summer weather here so far including a heat wave that broke all previous records here in BC. I’m so glad we got our outdoor space all set up because we have been logging a lot of hours out here so far! Happy hour is our favourite time of day, the sun is still high and we’re all thinking about a snack and a cold drink. Whether you have a pool or not, my Poolside Happy Hour Entertaining Ideas are perfect for coming together with your own family or entertaining friends! I’m joining some of my blogger friends who are also sharing their outdoor entertaining ideas to today, so be sure to look for them at the end of this post.
Nachos and Moscow Mules are our happy hour go-to! Nachos are super easy to make and can be easily adjusted to however big or small your crowd is. Top simply with green onions or get creative and add pesto and red onion. Don’t forget the salsa, sour cream and guacamole if desired.
Moscow Mules are an easy mixed drink requiring only a few simple ingredients: Ginger beer, lime, vodka and ice. Very refreshing and a tad bit spicy, not sweet.
This sectional has become our new favourite hangout when we’re not in the pool. If you missed it, you can see more on my Casually Elegant Outdoor Living Space post.
I like to incorporate typically indoor elements to my outdoor space to make it extra comfortable. Fresh cut flowers from the garden, candles and extra pillows and throws. I forgot to set the pillows and throws out the day of this shoot hehe, but they make things extra comfy and come in handy on cooler nights. I like to have a stack of freshly washed, coordinating throws on hand if we’re entertaining. That way they are ready to hand out later in the evening if needed and you won’t be searching high and low for something.
A drink cart is a great way to set out refreshments for your guests and makes a pretty display too! It’s perfect for serving flavoured water, wine or a pre-mixed pitcher of drinks and guests can easily help themselves. You can also store extra plates, cutlery and napkins below.
Don’t forget to sit down with your guests! It’s easy to get distracted with food, drinks, timing etc. when you’re hosting, but you also want to enjoy their company too. Get as much prep as you can done beforehand and if someones asks to help, ALWAYS say yes!
If you do have a pool, place extra towels out for your guests. Someone almost always forgets one! If you have younger children, extra sunscreen, hats and bathing suits come in handy too for those impromptu visits.
