Classic blue and white summer home tour
Welcome to my Classic Blue and White Summer Home Tour! I know, I know, I’m just as shocked as you that I incorporated BLUE into my summer home this year! I’ve been drawn to it for a little while now and one of the lovely benefits of having a neutral home is that you can easily add in a whole new colour just like that. I’m truly smitten with it and I hope you love it just as much as I do! I’m joining some friends for the Seasonal Simplicity Summer Series today so hello if you’re new here and coming over from Dans le Lakehouse. Let me show you the front door!
Not a lot has changed at my front door since the late spring. Since I planted mostly white flowers, I just added in some blue hydrangeas in a basket to the front door and some white hydrangeas in my new crock, a recent find from my trip to a local vintage mall. You all know I also love to match my dresses to my decor.
Time to head inside!
As I mentioned before, a neutral home allows you to add in pretty much any colour you wish as an accent. I started small and added as I went along. A lot of it was trial and error with different shades of blue, some worked and some didn’t. On the sofa I added colour and texture with a variety of new pillows and pillow covers. This garden hydrangea pillow was a bit of a jumping off point for my whole summer home.
My second jumping off point were these beautiful chinoiserie ginger jars, another lovely find from the vintage mall!
You know I love my fresh flowers and I’m obsessed with the arrangements that my local floral studio created for me! I added in a few extras here and there like these white peonies. You can never have too many peonies, I just wish they stuck around a little longer. Hydrangeas, roses, ranunculus and anemones are all beautiful for summer bouquets. If you’re nervous about adding colour like me (hehe), flowers are a great way to test things out. They are also a good way to tie your whole colour palette together!
I purchased these chinoiserie prints as a digital file and printed and framed them myself. Inexpensive art like this is a fun way to give your mantel and shelves a fresh look for summer.
My dining room shelves got a subtle refresh for my classic blue and white summer home tour. This is my newest milk glass find from the vintage mall filled with white roses. Mixing vintage pieces into your decor is a fun way to add charm and whimsy to your space and hunting for treasures sure is fun! Do you enjoy shopping vintage/thrift shops?
Over on the dining table, I set a simple summer tablescape with subtle blues and whites. We eat outdoors all summer long if the weather is nice so this table won’t see much action again until the fall.
White and cream linens and these oversize napkins with a blue french stripe add just the right amount of blue to my table. The white matte finish cutlery and straw placemats keep things looking oh so summery! As do more roses and blue hydrangeas in the floral centrepiece.
Here’s a full look at the shelves in the dining room and the rest of the mantel in the living room. I think the blue and white adds a pretty coastal vibe in here that I’m really loving, what about you?
Thanks for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed my Classic Blue and White Summer Home Tour. It was fun working with a new colour and I’m loving the fresh look in here for summer. Do you remember my Beautiful Boho Summer Home Tour from last year? It was all about the soft pinks. Now it’s time to head over to Rambling Renovators to see what Jen has in store for you!
