How to Refresh Your Front Door for Spring
Prepping for this spring front door post has felt more like a summer post as we’ve been experiencing the most glorious summer-like weather the past week here. Many Vancouverites (myself included) have been flocking to the garden centres (COVID precautions in place of course) and scooping up all the patio essentials with this burst of sunny, warm weather. We do have rain in the forecast and it’s not a bad thing as the grass and newly potted plants could use it. Today I’m going to show you how to refresh your front door for spring by adding new plants and a few simple accessories. I’m joining some friends who are also sharing their spring porch ideas, so be sure to pop by and visit the others sharing today at the end of this post.
Add a fresh wreath
You may remember my fresh spring wreath from my Fresh and Neutral Spring Decorating Ideas post. It has lasted beautifully over the past 6 weeks and still looks lovely even as its starting to dry out.
Repot an existing plant
We’ve had this tall ligustrum plant for a few years now and I’ve only just got around to properly planting it. Given its size, it was a challenge to find just the right pot but I’m really happy with how this large white ceramic pot worked out.
Add some new plants
I went with a simple white and green look using white geraniums, stock and lavender. Come the summer I’ll add in some white hydrangeas and roses.
Consider Seating
If you have room for it, a bench or even a single chair is really pretty on your front stoop. A local friend made this one for me last year and it turned out so well. It also doubles as a potting bench when I’m out here working!
Lanterns
Lanterns are a fun way to add decor and texture to your outdoor space while also creating ambiance in the evening. I’ll probably add more as we get closer to summer.
pillows
If your front door or porch is covered, you can treat it like your indoor space as the weather warms up. Use pillows and throws to add texture and colour to your space. Just remember to bring them in at night unless they are outdoor pillows.
I hope you enjoyed my tips on how to refresh your front door for spring! Which one is your favourite? Now I hope you’ll visit the other bloggers below who are sharing their spring outdoor spaces too!
Happy Planting!
