Date Night: Bard On The Beach
Summer date nights are the best. Maybe it’s because with the kids home all summer you just really look forward to an evening out…or maybe it just feels good to be getting dressed up and grabbing your sandals and sunglasses instead of an umbrella or coat. Going to a Bard On The Beach performance is one of my favourite ways to spend date night. If you live in the Vancouver area or are planning a visit here, I highly recommend you check it out!
Bard On The Beach is a professional Shakespeare festival that’s been a tradition here for 27 years. It’s located at Vanier Park on Vancouver’s spectacular waterfront and shows run June through September.
Seating is reserved and we conveniently picked up our tickets at the box office. It’s such a charming venue under the tents and a wonderful way to spend a warm summer night.
This year we saw The Merry Wives of Windsor and it was fabulous! Incredible talent, funny and engaging the whole way through. And not to worry if you don’t think you “get” Shakespeare. Somehow it all makes sense…that’s the magic of it.
Before the show and during intermission, light refreshments are available. Nothing like a glass of wine with the hubby, under the string lights, as the sun goes down. My kind of adult evening!
Of course, I couldn’t resist snapping a pic of this gorgeous planter full of succulents! The colours remind me of fall and how soon these summer nights will be coming to an end.
Have a fabulous week!
