Anniversary en Blanc
Hey there! It’s been a while I know. With all the changes happening on IG, honestly it’s been harder to find the time to devote to the blog. You all know I’m a wife and mama first and I also work part time, so I’ve been struggling to find the time to post. I’m looking forward to sharing more ideas for seasonal decorating and tablescapes, a DIY now and then, and special celebrations. Thank you for sticking with me!!
Speaking of special celebrations…if you’ve been following along on my IG, you know that we were away for a week at our family’s cottage on the Sunshine Coast of BC. Well last weekend the whole family was there to celebrate my in-laws 50th Anniversary. A huge milestone that my husband and I, along with his sister and her husband, had so much fun preparing for.
Our theme was Anniversary en Blanc…white lights, white decor and of course we all dressed in white too. Our accent colour was lilac as it was the colour of my Mother-in laws bridesmaid dresses. Tip: We rented tables, linens, dishes, glassware etc. from a local party rental company. It really gave things a cohesive, classy look and no dishes to clean up!
For flowers we went with two arrangements of dahlias placed in milk glass. Tip: farmer’s markets are a great place to find small local artisans to add a special touch to your celebration. My sister-inlaw found these beautiful blooms and the most amazing organic salad mix 🙌🏻
The weather had been absolutely beautiful all week (although smoky from the wildfires burning in the province) but wouldn’t you it know the forecast called for rain the night of our celebration 😱 Luckily it held off till after we cut the cake 🙏🏻
We served BBQ salmon, organic greens, quinoa salad and corn on the cob. It was a a delicious meal in the most beautiful setting celebrating two very special people 💛
The cake was a stunning tower of ombré buttercream roses. It matched the flowers perfectly and tasted delicious. Tip: it was a splurge but well worth it. It made a grand entrance when it was time to cut and it really was a special moment 💜
Such a special evening and so glad to share it with you! I sure am feeling grateful for these wonderful moments and all the fun times with my family this summer. It’s winding down and soon we’ll all be back at school and work. Time to enjoy every last second!! Hope yours has been wonderful too.
Till next time,
judy
