Magnolia Hotel & Spa Couple’s Getaway
I can’t believe how quickly summer is flying by! It’s been so wonderful to be able to travel again and recently we had the pleasure of visiting The Magnolia Hotel & Spa for a couple’s getaway. Located in picturesque Victoria, BC, The Magnolia Hotel is an award winning, boutique hotel known for its incredible service and located just one block from Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Years ago it was our go-to whenever we visited until my in-laws moved to Victoria. It was a real treat to visit again, enjoy some of the attractions within the downtown core and to experience the beautifully updated bathrooms on the Diamond-level floors, More to come on that later!
*Our visit to The Magnolia Hotel & Spa was a gifted stay in exchange for this post. As always, all opinions are my own along with an honest review of our stay.
Our weekend got off to an extra exciting start for me: my first ever seaplane trip! Harbour Air flies daily from Vancouver to Victoria in just 35 minutes. Such amazing views and super convenient, I highly recommend checking them out. By car it’s about a 3 hour trip from Vancouver to Victoria including ferry.
Just a short walk from the seaplane terminal and Victoria Harbour, we arrived at our home away from home for the weekend. I should note that during our stay, our province was in the beginning of a record breaking heatwave and little did we know just how much we were going to appreciate the comfort of our air-conditioned room!
We were greeted warmly and felt immediately relaxed in the welcoming and elegant lobby.
We couldn’t wait to get upstairs and check out our room and freshen up in the newly updated bathroom!
Sleek and modern in design, the new bathrooms in the Diamond-level suites feature large format porcelain tiles, polished chrome fixtures, deep soaker tubs and separate shower with spa-like shower head. All in beautiful neutral tones with gorgeous overhead lighting and thoughtfully placed under-counter night lights. Amenities include Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryers, plush oversized towels and bath products from L’Occitane and Saltspring Soapworks. I’ll share more on the rest of our room a bit later in the post.
We enjoyed one of our best meals ever at the hotel’s restaurant, The Courtney Room. It offers three elevated spaces to enjoy freshly prepared Pacific Northwest cuisine and fine wines: the lower brassiere, bar and upper dining room.
We enjoyed the Chef’s Tasting Menu: 7 courses each paired with wine. A truly amazing meal and experience!
The Fanny Bay oysters and ramp vichyssoise were just a few of our favourites. We love discovering new wines and especially liked the Little Farm 2018 Riesling. Hubby raved about the aged pork loin and the ling cod with masa croquettes was delicious!
Ending the night with this spectacular view of the Legislature from our room was a dream.
The next morning we set off to enjoy Victoria by bike. The Magnolia offers a complimentary bike program along with curated trail maps to discover the cities’ local eateries and attractions. Very romantic, right?!?
We biked at a leisurely pace throughout the day taking in the beautiful views and stopping to enjoy them along the way.
The gardens at Government House were a favourite. So many beautiful blooms in these traditional English gardens gave me so many ideas!
We love the area and sea views along Dallas Road. It’s beautiful for walking, biking or enjoying a day at the beach.
After a fun and busy day of exploring, it sure was nice to come back to our beautiful room to relax. Thoughtfully chosen furnishings and decor made our stay extra comfortable. The in-room Nespresso machines are perfect for morning coffee in bed or a quick pick-me-up before dinner.
We’d like to thank The Magnolia Hotel & Spa for hosting us for such an incredible couple’s weekend in Victoria. If you’re thinking of visiting this summer or fall, I hope you consider a stay with them. Right now you can take advantage of their Taste of the Island package which includes an overnight stay, $75 nightly dining credit to The Courtney Room, and complimentary use of the hotel’s cruiser bicycles including choice of Curated Trail Maps. From its convenient location, elegantly appointed rooms and newly renovated bathrooms and amenities, to dining at The Courtney Room and hotel bike program, it has all the makings of the perfect weekend away!
