Subtle Valentine’s Day Shelf Decorating Ideas
Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day? I usually like to concentrate on one area like my mantel or dining table and keep things super simple. Since I have new shelves in my dining room, I thought it would be fun to give them a sweet little update! Now you know I’m not big on bright colours, and as much as I loved my red Christmas, I like to keep my Valentine’s decor a bit more subdued with soft pinks, gold and natural shades. I’m sharing my Subtle Valentine’s Day Shelf Decorating Ideas and joining some talented blogger friends who are also sharing their Valentine’s Day vignettes.
These floating shelves have made such a difference on this wall that used to have a dark china cabinet that matches my vintage dining set. This space feels so much bigger and now I have a place to display some of my favourite things!
For this area of the shelves, I started with the larger items first like the beaded stand and books, and added in the smaller items one at a time. I’m a bit of a newbie at styling shelves as we don’t have many in our home. I think just have all your items ready to go and play around with different combinations until you love it! This doesn’t “scream” Valentine’s Day, but the gold heart print and soft pinks are a neutral nod to the overall theme, don’t you think?
It wouldn’t be Valentines without some pretty flowers on the table! This romantic arrangement fits right in with the rest of my Subtle Valentine’s Day Shelf Decorating Ideas. Sticking to a common theme will make your decor look connected and pulled together.
A lot of these items I already had on hand, but this heart hoop art is something new from a local maker. I love that it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day but since it’s natural, it won’t look out of place afterwards. Same thing with the beads. Adding the soft pink basket gives this side just the right amount of pink!
Now here’s a view looking the other direction in my dining room towards the living room. It gives me a chance to share these beautiful flowers again!
You’ll be seeing more of my table in next week’s post!
