Holiday Home Tour – Part 1
Happy Holidays and come on in! I’m so glad you’re here and so excited to share my holiday decor with you. I’ve teamed up with some amazing blogger friends to bring you a sneak peek into 8 of our homes decked out for the holidays. I’m actually feeling a bit behind on decorating this year (my tree isn’t even up!)… honestly it always seems to sneak up on me. Oh well, just means you’ll have to check back in with me in December to see how it all turns out!
My living room is one of the most neutral spaces in my home. Since my juju hat above the fireplace and my sofa the focal points in the room ( until the tree goes up), I like to keep things pretty simple in here when it comes to decorating for the holidays. I really love using a mix of natural elements and metal decor. There’s really nothing simpler than adding fresh greenery and pine cones for instant holiday effect in any room! The gold and silver accents give just the right touch of holiday sparkle and fit right in with my existing decor. Oh and how about this sweet sign from Ferns and Ivy Handmade Home Decor ?!?
I’ve got pillar candle holders all over the house and I’m seriously obsessed with these LED block candles from Ikea . They look fabulous and give off the perfect glow at night. Trust me you need them!!!
The coffee table is pretty minimal right now but I know I’ll be adding to it once the tree is up in here. Some white dusted pine cones in milk glass are a holiday staple for me and these lemon cypress trees are my absolute fave at this time of year! I like to put them everywhere!! And speaking of the tree, just to the left of the sofa here is where it will go. Exactly what kind of tree it will be is still in question over here. Just keep your fingers crossed Mama gets her flocked tree!
Moving on to the powder room. It’s super easy to add a few festive touches to welcome guests over the holidays. A simple silvery plant like this one or some fresh greens with berries always look pretty paired with a scented candle ( like this one from Vancouver Candle Co ) and of course some cute hand towels.
The family room has a more rustic holiday theme going on and wait for it…red accents! I know crazy right for a neutral gal like me?!? Honestly I really love how the red pairs with the dark grey sofas in here and there’s just something classic about red for the holidays. The moose head adds the perfect Canadian touch, and the whimsical Christmas Trees sign from Home Decor Market adds more rustic charm. Adding in a few red ornaments gives an instant pop of colour.
The whole family likes to get cozy in here… which is why i think our eclectic fresh tree would be perfect in here! This pillow from Bouclair gets all the feels from me and look…I spy more milk glass!
This sweet sign was one of the first things I picked up this year. I knew it would be perfect on the closet doors leading into the family room.
The upstairs landing is one of my favourite places to decorate. When I found this galvanized baking tray at a vintage market recently, I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do with it for Christmas! It would also look fabulous as a centrepiece on a Christmas tablescape so don’t be surprised if you see it move around over the holidays.
I’ve added just a few small touches in the master bedroom so far, a cozy plaid pillow and some faux berries from my favourite garden centre Art Knapp . Ahh…and our luxurious bed sometimes makes me wish I could hibernate all winter. Now if only we’d get some snow this Christmas, it would really feel like a winter retreat in here!
I’m so glad you stopped by! I love sharing my home and decor ideas with you and hope I’ve inspired you in some small way. Decorating for the holidays doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Start with the things you love, keep it simple and go from there. I know I’ll be adding things in here and there over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned! And wish me luck with my tree!! Now be sure to head over to the other bloggers on the tour to check out their beautifully decorated homes!
