A Warm and Elegant Christmas
I can’t believe it’s less than a week until Christmas! I think this is the latest I’ve posted my holiday home ever but I couldn’t not share and it’s never too late for a little last minute holiday inspiration. A fun fact about my holiday home this year: all of these beautiful photos were captured in mid September as my photographer was going on maternity leave and I was leaving for a trip to Portugal. I’m used to decorating early for brand partnerships and blogging, but this was early even for me! This year’s holiday home: A Warm and Elegant Christmas is all about the cozy comforts of home at Christmastime mixed with rich browns and green, natural accents and mixed metals. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Welcome to my holiday home, I’m so glad you’re here! Last year we were in the middle of a kitchen renovation and I really missed being able to decorate this space. I love having a cozy morning coffee in here or a glass of wine by the fire in the evening.

Simple greenery and brown velvet ornaments and ribbon come together to create a cozy festive space.

I love adding ornaments or pinecones to a bowl with fresh greenery for an easy centerpiece!

This year’s tree has a natural wood beaded garland and a mix of cream, brown and copper ornaments. I used brown paper wrapping for a subtle contrast and added a mix of velvet and satin ribbon for extra elegance.

Well hello new entryway view! I updated this wall with a new cabinet and mirror just in time or the holidays and I’m so happy with how it turned out. The cabinet is pretty and practical as it hides keys, sunglasses (all the things we need to head out the door) and extra decor like books and seasonal candles.

I had so much fun adding holiday touches to this newly refreshed space!

The staircase on the other side of the entryway got some festive touches too!

In the dining room these shelves are looking festive with simple greenery, gold accents and a framed Christmas print.

A delicate and low floral centerpiece adds interest but allows guests to see each other across the table. I mixed metals on my table with the gold candlesticks and sterling silverware. The blue patterned plates and glassware are both thrifted.

I love adding special vintage pieces to my decor especially during the holidays. This sterling silverware was my husband’s grandparent’s and I adore the delicately engraved “D” initial of our namesake. Don’t be afraid to mix old and new and bring out those special pieces more often!

The buffet is all set up for serving guests a Christmas cocktail.

A Warm and Elegant Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a peek into to my holiday kitchen!! We only just finished our kitchen renovation 2 days before Christmas last year and it was a whirlwind unpacking and getting ready to host family. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my new kitchen this holiday season baking lots, decorating and making memories with the family. I’m so grateful for this beautiful new space in our home!

Do you spy something yummy on the counter? Stay tuned next week for a delicious recipe just in time for Christmas morning. If you’re looking for an easy but elegant holiday dessert recipe try my Festive Tiramisu Trifle

Easy holiday additions in the kitchen are: bows and ribbon (everywhere!), fresh herbs like rosemary in a glass are at the ready for holiday cocktails and cooking and you can never go wrong with a festive candle. A statement floral arrangement with holiday greenery and berries is always a good idea.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a peek into my holiday home: A Warm and Elegant Christmas. In case you’re wondering if I’ve had my holiday decor up since September hehe, the answer is yes and no. I decided to leave the tree up because the idea of taking it all down and setting it up again after I got back from Portugal just seemed like too much work. I took everything else down though and slowly recreated everything after Canadian Thanksgiving in mid October through the end of the month so I was ready to go by November 1st. I’ve added other small touches here and there that aren’t captured here, so keep an eye out on my Instagram page for more inspiration. Special thanks to my photographer Camilla, Friday Eve Photo for capturing my holiday home so beautifully just before having her sweet baby boy. I’d love to hear what you think so please feel free to leave a comment below or for any questions about sources on anything you see in my home.
Happy Holidays!
