Elegant Holiday Home Tour
When do you start thinking about your holiday decor? In the summer? Fall? December 1st? This year’s Christmas actually came to me at the end of Christmas last year and I feel like I’ve been dreaming it up ever since. And I know I say this every year, but I really think this Christmas is my favourite! That’s why I’m so excited to share my elegant holiday home tour with you today as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series. If you’re new here and coming over from All Things With Purpose then hello and welcome! Be sure to visit the other bloggers sharing today and all this week listed at the end of this post. Welcome to my holiday home!
I always like to start at the front door as if you’re arriving for a visit, wouldn’t that be fun?! For a different look this year I chose a swag instead of a wreath for the door and I’m loving how it turned out! Tip: Add some ribbon and an ornament like these mini bells to your fresh swag or wreath for a custom look. A winter door mat is another fun way to welcome your guests over the holidays. I kept everything else out here pretty simple with some mini potted trees, fresh garland and hellebore.
Time to come inside…
This year’s holiday home is all about rich greens, browns and gold. I wanted it to feel elegant but still warm and welcoming. In case you missed it, I shared my Warm and Elegant Holiday Mantel in a post last week.
My holiday coffee table is styled simply with intentionally placed florals, candles and faux trees. Did you notice my new pillows? Green velvet and soft patterns are the perfect luxurious addition to my holiday home.
The tree is decorated with an assortment of green, brown and white ornaments of different sizes and textures. I didn’t use any garland or ribbon this year and I like how it allows the. ornaments to pop. I wrapped gifts in neutral brown and white paper and used grosgrain and satin ribbon for an elegant touch.
This year I added some winter wall art to our home for the holidays: with two new prints, one above the fireplace and the other by the tree.
The dining room got a little update for the holidays with these two beautiful new dining chairs in cream linen fabric. I love how they add a modern feel to my classic dining table and chairs. Extra chairs are always a good idea during the holidays too!
My holiday table sparkles with a dramatic floral arrangement, lots of texture and gold accents.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without the cookies would it?!?
The shelves in the dining room also got a little refresh for the holidays. Tip: I’ve always loved filling a variety of containers with fresh holiday greens at Christmas. It’s so simple but looks fancy! I added this dramatic high-gloss black candle vessel and I like how it contrasts with the rest of the delicate decor on the shelves.
I set up the buffet with a little cocoa station and a big bowl of fresh greenery. Tip: To style an over-size bowl like this with fresh greenery, use chicken wire or a floral frog in a smaller vase with water and place it inside. It will give it structure and no one will know!
The entryway looks extra festive with it’s fresh garland and simple brown satin ribbon.
I’ve added a few holiday touches upstairs in the master bedroom. My office nook got an update with peel-and-stick wallpaper. I love the neutral floral pattern that will look great in every season!
I love fresh bedding for the holidays! A white linen duvet cover pairs beautifully with these green velvet cushions for Christmas and coordinating blooms tie it all together.
Thanks for joining me for my elegant holiday home tour! I adore decorating my home for all the seasons but there really is something special about Christmas. I love how every where you turn, there’s just a little bit of extra magic!! And a special thank you to Alexis Lea Photography for capturing my home so beautifully.
